Training and Education

Currently, we offer the following courses for training and education (in German language):

  • Fischforum Jägerhof A

  • Fischforum Jägerhof B

These events are taking place in our own lecture theatre here at the Institute on Lake Sacrow at regular intervals.

In September, our annual training event takes place at the Heimvolkshochschule at Lake Seddin. In addition to presenting the latest results of applied fisheries research, the events also offer the opportunity to discuss issues, problems and opportunities for fisheries in our region and beyond with experts from practice, authorities and science. These trainings are held in German language only.

This year's training takes place a little bit later in the year than usual, on the 23rd and 24th of October. Please check out our events page for more information.

Furthermore, we are offering the opportunity to undertake work experience at the IfB, or even do a year of voluntary work at the Institute, in the framework of the German "freiwilliges ökologisches Jahr (FÖJ)" , a structured and govenrnment supported program. Currently, we are looking for a young person aged between 18 and 25 y.o. who is interested in doing this year of volunteering, beginning in September 2023. You will assist our researchers with aquatic- and fish-ecological sampling of various water bodies. If you are interested, please send us an email. Or, find more information (in German language) here.

We have developed a leaflet that introduces all options for education and training in the fisheries industry. Check it out here, where you can find the flyer and download it (in German language)
