Vocational Training
For many years, our institute has been supporting higher education in fisheries by taking on teaching tasks at currently four different universities. In particular, our staff design various teaching modules for the course "Fish Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture" at the Faculty of Life Sciences of the Humboldt University Berlin. Lectures are held at other universities, e.g. on fisheries management (TU Dresden), or on special forms of animal husbandry and use (Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg). In addition to participation in university education, we also offer compulsory work experience placements for students..
We are also active at the vocational training centre in Königswartha for trainees in the professions of fish farmer and master fish farmer, teaching training content and serving on the examination board. Last but not least we have also been training fish farmers ourselves as a recognised training organisation (specialisation: aquaculture and inland fishing) since 2020.
